Behind the joyful songs and unique flavors of Acadia lies a story marked by pain and resilience: the Deportation of the Acadians. Too often overlooked in its full scope, this 1755 tragedy left deep scars within the Acadian people.
“I don’t think everyone is fully aware of the extent of the situation and all the wounds this event caused for the Acadian people,” Maude confides in this short interview.
It’s in this spirit of remembrance and cultural transmission that Évangéline | the musical is being created — with the ambition of shining a spotlight on Acadian culture and raising awareness of this major historical event in Francophone history.
